IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Autumn Marie
Sandu
April 22, 2003 – November 26, 2025
On November 26, 2025, one of the kindest souls, Autumn Marie Sandu, age 22, lost her battle with Cushing's
disease at OSU Medical Hospital in Columbus, OH.
She was born in Mansfield, OH, on April 22, 2003, to her parents, Ronald and Sherry Shirkey. She's survived by her
loving wife, parents, siblings, cousins, grandmas, nieces, uncles, and aunts, and preceded in death by her loving
grandparents, whom she adored, Douglas Shirkey, Jean Wright, Virgil Davies and aunt Jennifer Saylor.
Always studious, Autumn attended Youth Build Columbus and pursued medical coursework as a part of
her high school education. Her career was marked by a deep love for healthcare, starting at the beautiful age
of 17 as a PCA and shortly after, a phlebotomist. She worked in nursing homes, at OSU, at Nationwide
Children's in the NICU, and ultimately at Ohio Health as an office specialist.
Autumn was always helping someone, and not just throughout her whole career; she was genuinely
just kind. Not a lot of people would take in someone when they were homeless or go with them to the hospital,
so they never went alone, but not her. She was always there. Besides the kind words and actions she
delivered to those around her, she loved to travel. Autumn and her wife, Andreea, were almost always off
together abroad, seeing Canada, the UK, Germany, France, and Romania. She loved traveling the world with
her wife and making memories full of life. She built a loving home in Columbus where she loved to cook,
organize, spend time with her pets, and plan for her future family. She always wanted to be a mom, having
bought and planned so much for her future son and daughter.
Although her story was cut short, her memory won't be. We love you, Autumn.
