Bernard Andrew Benson Sr., a devoted child of God and a man whose life was a testament to faith, love, and service, passed peacefully into eternity on April 16, 2026. Born on December 12, 1971, Bernard’s journey was marked by a profound spiritual commitment and a heart dedicated to living out the teachings of Christ in every aspect of his life.
From his earliest days, Bernard was nurtured in a family deeply grounded in faith, a foundation that shaped the way he lived, loved, and served. He was a loving and devoted father, a cherished son, and a loyal friend whose presence brought comfort and strength to all who knew him. His faith was not merely spoken but lived daily, seen clearly in the honor he showed his parents and the sincere passion he carried to serve God. Bernard’s life was a continual pursuit of walking humbly with Christ, striving to embody kindness, love, and grace in all his actions.
Bernard shared a special spiritual bond with his father, Enoch Benson IV, engaging in heartfelt conversations that sought wisdom and understanding of God's will. This bond was a guiding light for Bernard, inspiring him to live intentionally and to help others see the light of God through his words and deeds. Although he recognized his own imperfections, his desire for growth and alignment with God’s purpose never wavered, leaving a lasting impact on those blessed to share in his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his father, Enoch Benson IV, and stepmother, Eunice Benson; and his mother, Sherel Harrison. Bernard’s legacy is carried forward by his beloved children: Bernard A. Benson Jr., Toure Wallace, Dreonte Benson, and Bernyia Benson, who were the heart of his life. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Ky’Aire Benson, Ayden Green, Janieva Love, Kayden Benson, Jeremiah Benson, Messiah Benson, Tylynn Benson, and Brielle Felton, each carrying the spirit and love of their grandfather.
Bernard’s family circle extends to his siblings: Natasha Jones (Stephen), Felicia Benson, Jermaine Beamon (Tameka), Raymond Felt, and Bridget Felton. He was held dear by his nieces and nephews, including Alonzo Taylor-Jones, Lindell Benson, Adriana Jones, Brielle Felton, Willie Rance V, Gabriela Cabrera, Miranda Cabrera, Savannah Cabrera, Martez Beamon, and Jasmine Beamon. An extended family and many loved ones also mourn the loss of a man whose influence touched their lives profoundly.
In addition to beloved living family members, the family acknowledges the memory of William Carmichael as part of their lineage.
Bernard’s life was rich with meaning, purpose and music. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith and enduring love—a legacy that points others towards God and will never fade. His light shone brightly and continues to illuminate the paths of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
As Pastor/Minister Enoch Benson IV poignantly expressed, "Bernard Andrew Benson Sr., my son, my firstborn, and my true friend—you will be deeply, truly, and forever missed. Though you are no longer with us in the physical, your love, your light, and your spirit will live on in our hearts for all eternity."
Bernard's passing leaves a significant void, yet within the sorrow lies a profound comfort: he has entered a place of eternal peace, free from pain and suffering, embraced forever in the presence of God. His memory will forever be cherished, his life celebrated, and his spirit honored by all who had the privilege to know him.
-Pastor/Minister Enoch Benson IV
You were the center of our family, the place we all returned to. you loved all the simple things, a good movie a room full of laughter & the sound of people you loved all together . You were strong in the quietest of ways. The kind of strength that held everything steady without needing to be seen. Greatness lived in you In your words, In your smile, In the way you made people feel like they mattered. You were funny, The kind of funny that stays with us echoing in the stories that we will continue to tell forever I still see you in every moment we shared, In every laugh that feels like you, In every memory that refuses to fade. You may be gone from my sight, But never from my life Because everything you were still lives in us. Long Live such an Amazing Man.
-Bernyia Benson
