Charles Edward Haynes was born on May 23, 1963, in Eau Claire, MI to LeRoy and Helen Haynes.
Charles departed this life unexpectedly on November 6, 2025, in Columbus, OH. Charles moved to Ohio 6 years ago to be with family and start a new life. Charles loved being around his family.
Charles received Christ at an early age. Charles received his education from Benton Harbor Public Schools. Charles was incarcerated for 36 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections and reunited with his family in July 2017. Those were the happiest moments of his life. Charles loved being around his family, especially during gatherings. Charles truly loved his family and everyone that was around him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Helen Haynes; stepfather Willie Jackson; grandparents Alma Croom and Curtis Betts; and Eula Mae and Opie Haynes, three children (twins) Charles Jr., Sheila, and Ellen Haynes, a brother James Townes; a sister, Helen Moore, and brother‑in‑law Nathan Moore
Charles leaves to cherish his memories, eight sisters: Carolyn Ross of Grove City, OH; Willie Mae Hurt of Arkansas; Paula Townes of Texas; Jocelyn Haynes of Columbus, OH; Beverly Townes of Kalamazoo, MI; Ellen Haynes, Betty Haynes; and Cindy Townes, All of Benton Harbor, MI. Three brothers: Roy Jr. and Willie James Haynes of Columbus, OH; James Townes of Benton Harbor. Stepdaughter; Kalyn (Suga) Collins of Benton Harbor, A estranged wife, Tunnisha Harris- Haynes of Benton Harbor. And a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who know that they all were dearly loved
Charles also leaves a very special friend, Rebecca Griffin and family, Dwayne, Paul, PJ, Don-Don and Maggie.
