Obituary

Harold J. Wells, affectionately known as “Jim” or “DC,” was born on August 31, 1936, in Delaware, Ohio. He passed away on February 28, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of hard work, knowledge, and dedication to family and community.

He attended Willis High School in Delaware, Ohio, and went on to build a life rooted in service and connection. Harold began his career as a truck driver, where he met the love of his life, Gladys Y. Wells. They shared 28 years of marriage until her passing in 2003.

He later worked for the City of Delaware as a street crew associate, retiring in 1995. Even in retirement, Harold remained active, spending his time teaching his children valuable skills—from working on cars, motorcycles, and boats to handling home repairs. His patience and willingness to teach left a lasting impression on everyone he mentored.

Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Wyonna M. Flaming; his beloved wife, Gladys Y. Wells; and his brothers, Elvis, Wayne, and Fred Wells.

He is survived by his brother Kay and sister Barb; his children Dan and Diane Wells, Whalen (Belinda) Jones, and Melody (Tom) Immel; and his cherished grandchildren Michael, Madyson, James, Christy, Dannie, Tommy, Keisha, KC, Rusty, and DJ. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will continue to honor his memory.

Harold was also well known as a CB and Ham radio operator. He spent countless hours connecting with truckers from all over the world, often helping guide them to their destinations. Through this passion, he formed many friendships and became a familiar and trusted voice within the CB community.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and the knowledge he passed down to those he loved.
