Obituary

Joy Parker Williams, affectionately known as "Ms. J," was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Hattie L. Davidson and Tony Parker on October 15, 1958. Joy made her earthly transition on September 22, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by those whose love she cherished most.

Born and raised on the East Side of Columbus, Ohio, Joy "Ms. J" Williams took great pride in her community and family. Growing up in the Mt. Vernon (Bronzeville) area played a significant role in shaping that pride. Joy attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Mohawk Junior-Senior High School.

Throughout her life, Joy held a variety of jobs, three of which she particularly loved and enjoyed the most. She worked at the Macon and the Cannon Bar, and later as a department sales associate at Marshall Fields. Her last position before her health declined was as a paratransit driver, a role she came to cherish and love most. She found pride and joy in being more than just a driver to those she served.

Whether sharing a laugh, speaking her mind, enjoying music, sitting on the porch with loved ones, celebrating holidays, or joining social clubs, Joy had a way of making every moment feel more alive and memorable. Her presence was unforgettable, and her laughter and smile were contagious. Joy's generous heart made people feel welcome and loved. She gave love freely and wholeheartedly.

Joy was also a gifted cook. Everyone who knew Joy knew she could cook! Her food, much like her spirit, brought people together and left a lasting impression.

Cookouts and holidays may never be the same, and they haven't been for quite some time. But through God's grace and mercy, we can hold those memories close to our hearts, cherishing the love, laughter, and togetherness she gave us.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie L. Davidson and Tony Parker; her grandparents, Henry and Hazel Williams; her aunts, Emma Jean Williams, Sharon Hudson, Marlene and Charlene Williams (twins), and Jeanette Williams Brewer; her uncles, Alan Earl Owens, Henry Williams, and Harold Williams; her cousin, Kevin Williams; and her best friend, Wendy Tisdale.

Joy leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Thomas Scott; her sister, Shawne Williams (Curtis Brown); her special nephew, Ryan Gordon; her special niece, India Kerrin, whom she helped raise; her great niece, Ivy Dreme'; her special cousin (son), Christopher Andre Williams; her cousins, Marcus Williams and Troi Williams Sr.; her favorite cousin, Charles Willis; her best friend (homie), Beverly Watson; and her special friend and companion, Archie Sutton.

She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends whom she loved with all her heart.
